The Spokesman-Review's Northwest Passages Book Club welcomes Neal Thompson, author of "Kickflip Boys: A Memoir of Freedom, Rebellion and the Chaos of Fatherhood," in conversation with columnist Shawn Vestal.

Thompson's memoir is about being the father of teen-age boys who defy, worry and amaze him. Publisher's Weekly described the book as "heartfelt. This book will provide humor and comfort for parents figuring out their kids."
"Kickflip Boys" is Neal Thompson's fifth book. He's a journalist who previously worked at the Philadelphia Inquirer, St. Petersburg Times and Baltimore Sun and now runs Amazon's Literary Partnership Program.
When: Wednesday, June 13 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.
Where: The Spokesman-Review, 999 West Riverside Ave. in Spokane.
Tickets: General admission tickets cost $5. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Book signing: Auntie's Bookstore will have copies of "Kickflip Boys" for sale before and during the event at a 15 percent discount for book club readers. The author will sign books in the Terra Blanca Winery Tasting Room. Wine will be available for purchase.
